May wedding

Speaking with my colleagues, I am finding that brides are booking closer to the date of the wedding for all their services. This is certainly true for us too. While we have some weddings booked for the fall, most seem to be coming in just a month or two before the wedding. Last week we met Pamela and Craig. They are getting married on May 2nd. Just over a month away. I find these days I am working on three or so weddings at one time, no longer having the leisure of months of planning. I am not complaining though. It is a new challenge and other than occasionally getting the names mixed up in the first drafts, it seems to be working out well. Pamela and Craig are getting married outside a beach house in crescent beach. They are a local couple, (practically neighbors) who still appreciate what a great place this is to vacation as well as to live. We are very excited about performing their wedding ceremony and look forward to meeting their families and friends as well.

A wedding in the mist

Michael and Dawn came down from Pittsburgh for their wedding on the beach. We had it at the River to the Sea Preserve. They have been staying at Disney World and drove out for the day. After the wedding they intended to head up to see a bit of St. Augustine before returning to Disney. The day was very overcast despite the forecast of partly cloudy. There was a light mist falling but it wasn't enough to dampen our spirits. The clouds made a stunning backdrop for the ceremony. Dawn's two daughters and Michael's two sons were included with a medallion ceremony where the boys were presented with shark's tooth necklaces and the girls got more feminine necklaces as tokens of the day The couple had a sand ceremony with mint green and navy blue sand and topped it off with sand from the beach so that they could remember our beautiful beach forever.

Lisa and Robert

Lisa and Robert came down from New York to her parent's home in Palm Coast to be married yesterday evening. They were married at the clubhouse at Grand Haven. Lisa and Robert told us they wanted a fun wedding and that's exactly what they got. Their guests told us that they had never had so much fun at a wedding ceremony. Lisa and Robert told us it was exactly what they wanted. We were invited to the reception and had a great time. What a wonderful couple! And their families were just as wonderful. Lisa is one of the most relaxed brides I have seen and it showed when someone stepped on her dress and it tore and she said, "Oh well, Iwasn't planning to wear it again anyway."

This Saturday at Grand Haven

Lisa and Robert just left our office. We were going over the last minute details for their wedding ceremony on Saturday. They just flew in from New York and their first stop was the county courthouse to get their liccense. They just happen to live in Bellerose which is then next town to Rev. Ted's home town of Floral Park, so a lot of reminiscing will be going on at the reception this weekend. They have Mr. DJ doing the music for the ceremony and reception and A Unique Occasion is their limo company. Good friends of ours, both of them, so I know they are in good hands.

Volusia County Wedding Professionals

We had a really productive meeting last night at the Volusia County Wedding Professionals, discussing new trends in the wedding industry, so we can all keep abreast on what is going on in each other's areas of expertise. We learned a lot about the latest ideas in photography, music and flowers and how to all do our best to keep our brides happy in spite of the economic difficulties this country is enduring. These types of meetings keep us informed so that we can better serve our couples no matter what their need may be.

Dawn and Michael

We have been in touch with Dawn and Michael who are flying in from Pittsburgh to get married on one of our beautiful beaches. They are tired of the long winter and ready for some of our glorious Florida sunshine. Their wedding will be Monday at the River to the Sea Preserve, on the beach just south of Marineland. They are going with mint green and blue for their colors and want some of the beach sand in the sand ceremony container to forever remind them of the beauty of this place that we so take for granted.

Christine and Michel's wedding

Today was also the wedding of Michel and Christine. They both live in Ottawa, Ontario Canada and came down to the Ginn resort for their destination wedding. Many of their family and friends joined them to enjoy the wedding and the perfect weather. Christine's bridesmaids included Michel's daughter Isabella and their two sons served as ring bearers. Christine surprised Isabella with special bracelet to commorate the occasion. The bridesmaids were dressed in burnt orange which was a beautiful contrast to all the greenery surrounding them on the Ginn lawn. The reception was held aboard the Sundancer. After a honeymoon at the resort the couple will be returning to the frigid north. I am so glad I get to stay here.

Tiffany and Justin

Tiffany and Justin got married today at Washington Oaks. Everyone was in white except the maid of honor who wore a tea length mint green dress. They were married on the Octagon with Tiffany coming down through the rose garden. She was very smart. She rented a tent to use as a dressing room at the top of the stairs. This way she didn't have to walk all the way back to the house and change in the bathroom which is rather small. She had the sand ceremony with mint green and light turquoise sand, and a memorial for her mothergrandparents before the ceremony started. She used a vase personalized with their names and roses in the vase. Beautiful.

Michelle and Lee

Michele and Lee from Gainesville have booked their wedding with us. They are from Gainesville and are getting married on the beach at Anastasia Island on April 3rd. We will be working hard to get everything done in time but I know it will turn out just fine. April is such a beautiful month for a beach wedding. The weather is usually perfect. It is not rainy season yet and not too hot on the beach. I am also partial to the date because it is my birthday. I can't think of better way to celebrate.

More news

We talked with Joanne today to finalize details of her ceremony on April 11. She and Sergio got engaged on June 11th and consider 11 to be their lucky day. April is going to be a very busy month but we will be fine. We love weddings and couldn't be happier.

Meet Soli and Helmut

Soli is from Belize and Helmut is from Germany. They came to Florida where their paths crossed in a way that could only be due to fate. They are getting married on May 21 in Washington Oaks. We had the pleasure of meeting with Soli this afternoon to begin planning her ceremony. She is a beautiful and intelligent woman and we can't wait to meet Helmut.

meet the soon-to-be weds

Today we met with Damen and Megan from Tallahassee who are getting married April 4th at the Fountain of Youth in St. Augustine. A really nice couple, we are having a good time getting to know them and to write their ceremony. There isn't a lot of time but we work well under pressure and are really happy to be doing their wedding. Yesterday we had dinner with Christy and John from Daytona Beach who are getting married June 20th. We had met them before this past August, but got together to go over some more details of their wedding. You will here more soon about the two weddings we are doing on Saturday. One at Washington Oaks and later the second on the Ginn Yacht. What a fun weekend that will be!
